David Nastri - Town Council - Fourth District
As a child had the good fortune to be raised in Cheshire, and as an adult I had the good judgement to settle here. I was inducted into the Cheshire High School Hall of Fame in 2006.
By profession I am a Financial Advisor, and by education I am a licensed attorney. My legal practice is limited to pro bono representation of veterans in their compensation claims for service-connected injuries and illnesses.
I am a combat veteran and served in Afghanistan in 2010 as an Infantry Staff Sergeant. Between active duty and my time in the Army National Guard I have ten years of service to this great nation.
I have a BA, a Master of Business Administration and a Juris Doctorate degree from Quinnipiac University. I attended law school on the GI Bill when I left active duty. In 2002 I was able to successfully donate a kidney to a local woman who had recently retired from a 35-year teaching career.
My family is still local, and I am fortunate to call my brothers and sister and their spouses and children my best friends.
My focus is on maintaining local control over the issues that impact Cheshire and its residents. Parents, not schools, are responsible for raising their children. Schools should be partners, not decision makers for our children.
I am in favor of reinstating the pension plan for our police department. I know it is expensive, but it’s not as expensive as constantly losing capable officers to other towns that still provide a pension. Police work is dangerous and emotionally and physically challenging; we owe it to our community to support the men and women who do the thankless job protecting us.
I want to lobby the state to amend Connecticut law to allow us to provide meaningful tax relief for veterans and to law enforcement professionals who call Cheshire home.
